After a fun family portrait session in the redwoods of Samuel P Taylor State Park, I stayed in Marin to explore the Sonoma Coast. Meandering two-lane backroads led me to a hike on the Tomales Bay Trailhead. The dirt and gravel trail winds through rolling green hills, past a large pond to multiple overlooks at the southern edge of Tomales Bay.
Continuing north on Hwy 1, the drive winds past picturesque dairy farms to the edge of the Pacific Ocean. A nice long break to soak in the sun and sea air turned out to be the perfect rest stop.
After driving past Nick’s Cove in Marshall, CA many times over the years, I finally stopped in for dinner before the drive home. A cheese plate and white beer hit the spot, leaving lots of seafood choices for next time. As the sun started to set on my day exploring Tomales Bay and the Sonoma Coast, I enjoyed one last view from Nick’s Yacht Club Boat Shack and headed home with the sea breeze in my hair, and a smile on my face.
Photographing our Journeys around the earth fills my heart and soul with joy.
